Just one week after the excellent win over València, Real Madrid looked like a very different team in the match against Rayo Vallecano.
The team played with slower rhythm and less consistency, and suffered a lot Rayo's aggressiveness and confidence. The match ended 0-0.
Matchday 12: Focus on Brahim Díaz
Since Mastantuono is currently injured, I would have expected Rodrygo to start as right winger, but instead Xabi Alonso chose Brahim. Brahim is definitely a valuable team player and he showed it this time too.
He started on the right wing, but he came inside many times to attack space, and dropped back to create overload defensively when needed and to recover balls. He did his best to create chances from the right wing, and even more to circulate the ball in the midfield, passing to Bellingham or Mbappé. He often had to dribble away from both Pep Chavarría and Pathé Ciss to keep the ball and drive forward. He was subbed off at minute 70.
Brahim played a good match but couldn't help create many chances. His effort is to be praised though: he's not an indisputable starter but when the team needs consistency on the right wing, Brahim is there.
